Why move a fast site to WordPress?
Madsheets build custom spreadsheet and automation systems for small businesses. Their site was React, deployed on Vercel, and it was quick.
The problem was not the site — it was what they could not do with it. They wanted to publish blog content regularly for SEO, and that meant a platform their team could write on without a developer in the loop.
So the brief was awkward in the way the good ones usually are: move to WordPress for the publishing, without losing the speed that made the original worth keeping.
What I built
- Pixel-perfect rebuild of the React design in WordPress and Elementor
- A custom Elementor widget for one section the editor could not build natively — written as a proper widget so the client can still edit it from the page builder rather than needing me
- Performance work throughout, because a default Elementor build would not have come close to the original
- A migration that kept email running. They use Google Workspace, and moving hosting means moving nameservers — which is exactly how businesses lose mail for a day. Planned so that nothing dropped.
The result
The blog is live and the team publishes to it themselves. On my own measurements the homepage reaches first contentful paint in about a second, which is not something a typical Elementor build manages.
