Groups of people pooling money every month — committees, savings circles, family funds, office collections — usually track it in a notebook or a WhatsApp thread. Both work until somebody disagrees about whether a payment was made.
My own product, built in React Native with Expo and published on Google Play.
What it does
- Groups, each with its own monthly contribution target, several running at once
- Participants added, edited or removed per group, with their current status visible
- Contributions recorded by participant and by month, so the question “has March been paid?” has an answer
- A running total of what the group has collected
Why the record matters more than the maths
The arithmetic here is trivial. The value is the record.
Money between friends and family goes wrong the same way every time: not through dishonesty, but because two people remember a payment differently and neither wrote it down. A shared, dated record means nobody has to rely on memory, and the awkward conversation does not happen.
That shaped the design toward showing status plainly — who has paid, who has not, what is outstanding — rather than burying it in reports.
Built with
React Native and Expo, one codebase, with the data held on the device. For a tool recording money between people who already know each other, keeping the records local rather than on someone else’s server is the right default.
